By Anonymous Buffalo, NY February 12, 2004-–Kenmore Development has announced a partnership with Thinwires, LLC that will allow Kenmore Development to provide high-speed Wi-Fi Internet access throughout its properties– possibly a first for any property management company in the region. Wi-Fi (short for Wireless Fidelity) is based upon 802.11 technology, which allows users of Wi-Fi enabled handheld, laptop, or desktop computers to send and receive data through the air instead of wires. Known as a Thinwires Homespot, the service to be deployed was designed specifically with multiple dwelling property managers in mind.
“Wi-Fi is a great fit for our business,” explains Scott Hunt, Marketing Manager for Kenmore Development. “It provides our residents with a great value-added service using an extremely economical and flexible technology” said Hunt. “We had looked into a few different options for providing Internet service before choosing Thinwires– their option made the most sense to us.” For property owners, a partnership with Thinwires offers a long-term revenue opportunity with a ROI in a matter of months–not years. The first Kenmore Development property to “unwire” will be the Delaware Park Apartments located at 1975-2035 Delaware Avenue in Buffalo, with the option of other Kenmore Development properties to follow.
“We’re very excited to have Kenmore Development onboard,” said Michael Kasprzyk, CEO of Thinwires. “We’ve put together a really solid offering that works out great for both the property managers and their residents– they (Kenmore Development) recognized the value and potential of our product immediately,” he added. Thinwires manages all aspects of its Homespot service from hardware acquisition and installation, to quality monitoring, billing and customer support.
The Thinwires Homespot service will allow Delaware Park Apartments residents to access the Internet through any Wi-Fi enabled device from virtually anywhere in, or even around the Kenmore Development property. Users with portable Wi-Fi enabled devices, such as laptops, or handheld PDA’s will enjoy the added benefit of access to the Thinwires international network of Hotspots at no additional cost. Hotspots are public Wi-Fi access points most commonly found in cafés, restaurants, hotels, and airports.
Kenmore Development has become one of Western New York’s leading managers of Multiple Dwelling Units (MDU), owning and operating apartment communities since 1970. The company owns and manages a portfolio consisting of 11 properties with over 700 units in the Buffalo area, and an additional 80 units in Fort Myers Florida. Order your tickets before 5 p.m. on July 5, 2004 and be eligible to win additional prizes. Two Early Bird drawings will be distributing $50,000 with cash prizes ranging from $1000 to $25,000 each. Those lucky cash prizewinners are automatically re-entered into the Final and Grand Prize drawing held Saturday, 3:00 p.m., September 4, 2004, at the Alameda Park Bandstand at 1400 Santa Barbara Street, Santa Barbara.

It is within walking distance to Santa Barbara’s historical downtown, restaurants, cultural venues and is near the beach.
SBCAF Director Rita Ferri commented, "We’re working to make fundraising a performance art. As a non-profit, we can create a millionaire on September 4th and at the same time raise funds for our community and educational outreach programs. SBCAF may be small, but we’re mighty."
Like any great artist, Rita Ferri and the SBCAF Board were inspired by the creativity of others. "We took a good look at the success of the Palos Verdes Art Center Dream Home Raffle," stated SBCAF Board President, Geof Wyatt "and we had to believe a home raffle in Santa Barbara would be every bit as successful as the ones held in Palos Verdes. Tickets to their 2004 raffle sold out in 33 days."
Tickets are on sale now to anyone 18 years or older and are $150. Only 18,000 tickets will be sold. You may purchase tickets by phone at 805.884.5900, by fax at 805.884.5980 or by mail.
